On Wednesday 9th October to help celebrate National Organics Week, we magically transformed our market into an indoor cinema for the evening and hosted a screening of “Design for Life. Permaculture: The Food Forest Story.” This is a great documentary that follows local couple Graham and Annemarie Brookman as they transform their newly purchased barren sheep paddocks into a certified organic food forest using permaculture principles. We were so fortunately to have Graham and Annemarie come along and introduce the film, discuss the amazing benefits of local, sustainable food systems and answer questions from the audience.
And because no film screening about organic food would be complete without an organic feast to accompany it, we also gathered together a fresh, organic and chemical free supper from the finest producer our stallholders have to offer. Between the gorgeous salads, organic, fair trade coffee with hand pressed almond milk and a good old natter with some like minded folks, it was an evening to remember.
We’ll certainly be hosting more of these events in the future so stay tuned to our mailing list and facebook page to keep in the loop. In the mean time, you can check out some happy snaps of the night in the gallery above.
